What's new

What changed in each version of Hourlet. Installed copies update themselves.

September 28, 2026

0.7.2

Fixed

  • Automatic updates now work. Earlier versions didn't know where to look for updates, so if you're on 0.7.1 or older, download this version once by hand. From here on, Hourlet updates itself.

September 28, 2026

0.7.1

Improved

  • The Tasks / Progress switcher is smaller and sits closer to the sound row, so the popover feels less crowded.

Fixed

  • Restoring a backup no longer changes which Do Not Disturb shortcuts Hourlet runs, and a backup with impossible dates is refused instead of slowing Hourlet down.
  • Quitting while Do Not Disturb is still switching no longer takes up to 20 seconds.
  • A data file Hourlet can't read is never saved over, even if it can't be moved aside.
  • Opening Settings › Goals no longer pauses while Hourlet reads your backups.

0.7.0

New

  • Pick the icon above the timer. Click the eye (or the cup on breaks) and choose from a grid of symbols, or none at all. The same choice is in Settings › Timer.

Improved

  • Statistics, Settings and What's New now share one Hourlet window with a sidebar, instead of opening three separate windows. The window remembers its size and place, and ⌘, takes you back to the settings pane you were on.

September 28, 2026

0.6.3

Fixed

  • Clicking the timer's digits to type a new length works on the first click. Before, when the popover opened without Hourlet coming forward, the first click did nothing and what you typed next could end up as a new task.

September 27, 2026

0.6.2

Improved

  • The top of the popover is less crowded. The three Focus / Short / Long pills are now one small button that names the phase; click it to pick Focus, Short Break or Long Break. While a session runs it shows the phase, and Reset lets you switch.

September 27, 2026

0.6.1

Improved

  • Presets moved to Settings › Timer, so the popover stays clean. The line under the phase pills now names the next session.

Fixed

  • The duration fields in Settings › Timer take typing again. Press Return or click away to save.

September 27, 2026

0.6.0

New

  • Click the time on the timer and type how many minutes you want. No more arrows.
  • Presets for common rhythms: 25 / 5, 45 / 15, 50 / 10 and 90 / 20, in the popover and in Settings › Timer.
  • Add Do Not Disturb Shortcuts in Settings › Focus sets up Do Not Disturb in two clicks. Hourlet picks the shortcuts itself once they're added.

Improved

  • Focus, Short and Long are now pills at the top of the popover, so it's clear you can switch between them. While a session runs, the line beneath shows which session it is and when it ends.
  • Durations in Settings are plain number fields you type into.

Fixed

  • Do Not Disturb could be turned on in Settings and still do nothing, without saying why. Hourlet now says when it isn't set up, in the popover and in Settings.

September 27, 2026

0.5.1

Improved

  • A calmer Progress tab: your streak leads, with your best streak, freezes and focus score on one line beneath it, and more room around the activity grid.
  • A richer timer: bolder numbers, an icon for the phase, a dash for each session in the cycle, and a ring with a minute bezel and a lit tip.

0.5.0

New

  • Mark websites as distracting, like instagram.com or youtube.com. Focus Guard notices them in Safari, Chrome, Edge, Brave, Arc, Vivaldi and Opera.
  • Export all your data to a file and import it again, so tasks, streaks and history are never lost.
  • Automatic backups every day and before each update, with Restore in Settings › Goals.
  • What's New shows what changed in each version.

Improved

  • The popover stays open while you use Settings or Statistics, and those windows open beside it instead of underneath. Whichever you click comes to the front.
  • If a data file ever can't be read, Hourlet restores it from the latest backup and tells you.
  • One damaged entry in your history no longer hides the rest of it.
  • Settings shows a message if saving your data fails.

Fixed

  • Do Not Disturb could stop working if the Shortcuts app hung while listing shortcuts.
  • Reset Statistics now keeps a backup first, so it can be undone.
  • Added the open-source notice for Sparkle, the update framework.

September 27, 2026

0.4.0

New

  • Automatic updates. Hourlet checks once a day and can be turned off in Settings › General.

Improved

  • Settings and Statistics match the popover's light or dark theme.
  • Durations in Settings can be typed, with arrows to nudge them.
  • A styled install window in the disk image.

September 27, 2026

0.3.0

New

  • Focus Guard notes which app is in front during focus and gives each session a focus score.
  • Nudge or hide distracting apps during focus.
  • Turn on Do Not Disturb during sessions with your own shortcuts.
  • Plan around your calendar: see the next event and end sessions before it.

Improved

  • Roomier, rounder popover with Liquid Glass controls.
  • Keyboard shortcuts for the Tasks and Progress tabs and Statistics.

September 27, 2026

0.2.0

New

  • A new name, Hourlet, with your data and preferences carried over.

Improved

  • A new icon and a dial in the menu bar that shrinks as time runs out.
  • Universal build for Apple Silicon and Intel.

Fixed

  • Playlist names can no longer be run as script code.
  • A damaged data file is set aside instead of being overwritten.

September 27, 2026

0.1.0

New

  • Focus timer with short and long breaks, tasks, streaks, a heatmap and focus sounds.
